Northern Fury today announced the appointment of a familiar face to the role of Technical Director.
Bill Mitchell was formerly regional development officer with North Queensland football prior to a recent two-year stint at Technical Director of the Wide Bay region.
Bill’s role as Technical Director will include mentoring players and coaches, giving strategic, tactical and technical guidance, and managing talent programs. He will also lead the club’s scouting network and will report to Director of Football and Head Coach of the NPL team, Ian Ferguson.
“We’re thrilled to announce Bill’s appointment. I know his expertise will be invaluable as we strive to be consolidate our position as a leading club in the National Premier League,” said Ferguson.
"Strengthening football in the North Queensland community through youth development is a key priority for us as we build from the grassroots up.”
“Bill is familiar with North Queensland Townsville, is well-known in the local community and he will be a fantastic mentor for coaches and young players,” said Ferguson.
“Bill has a proven track record in the industry and understands full well what it takes to succeed. I look forward to sharing ideas and listening to advice, as we work towards getting Northern Fury FC gets to where it belongs: long-term, hopefully in an expanded A-League or a second division but our highest priority at this point is to continue to advocate for a team in the W-League and National Youth League," said Ferguson.
Bill Mitchell has relocated to Townsville over the festive season and is ready to assume duty once training recommences later this month in time for the season kick-off on February 28th.
Northern Fury’s NPL team commences its 2015 season with four away games including the first round annual derby for the Frank Farina Shield against FNQ Heat in Cairns involving the NPL side and all junior teams.
